Hey Im Ari.
I’m a photographer and designer from Los Angeles, currently based in San Diego. I’m drawn to candid expressions, unexpected interactions, and people absorbed in what they love.
I began taking photos with my grandfather’s camera, and have been experimenting ever since, from rebuilding antique cameras and shooting expired film to digital portraits and studio lighting. I’ve developed my practice through personal projects, coursework, and professional work in event and commercial photography.
I appreciate the candidness of a photograph that lets people be themselves. A passing expression, a laugh between friends, or a small detail in an otherwise ordinary scene can be what makes an image worth keeping. I prefer working with what unfolds naturally, giving people room to feel comfortable rather than directing every gesture.
That approach carries into my marketing work at The Bookstore at UC San Diego. I collaborate with campus clubs and organizations to photograph people doing what they love while wearing our merchandise. Working with automotive enthusiasts, skaters, and breakdancers lets me create promotional images that reflect the interests and personalities of the people in them.
Beyond the photograph
My design work spans merchandise, print, and digital media. I create shirts, hats, jerseys, stickers, and lighters, alongside flyers, Instagram graphics, and recruitment videos. I enjoy developing an idea across formats, considering how it will look, feel, and function on everything from a piece of clothing to a moving image.
I’m especially drawn to vintage graphics, retro imagery, expressive typography, and lively color. I like giving those references a new context through work that feels personal to the people wearing it, sharing it, or seeing it out in the world. I also design and build websites, bringing the same attention to visual character and everyday use.
I’m currently a senior at UC San Diego, majoring in Visual Arts Media and minoring in Marketing at the Rady School of Business. Across photography, design, and marketing, I’m interested in making work that connects with people and in staying curious about what I can make next.
